Types Of Roofing

Types Of Roofing

Whether you are replacing your old roof or you are building your own new home, you have a lot to think about when it comes to choosing what type of roof you want on top of your home. There are so many options out there that you really need to do your research before making your final decision. We want to help you as much as we can so we have compiled this list of roofing options that we provide at Douglass Restoration.

Shingles

Asphalt shingles are the most popular type of shingles out there for homeowners. On average, these shingles last about 20 years and are relatively inexpensive. You can find asphalt shingles that will last upward of 50 years, but these are much more expensive.

Metal

Metal roofing is a very tricky installation and needs to be done by an experienced professional like the ones at Douglass Restoration. Metal roofs are environmentally friendly, lightweight, and low maintenance. If the roof ever starts to loose its shine, painting the metal is always an option. Keep in mind, however, that when rain or hail hits a metal roof, it can be quite loud and scary pets and young children.

Tile

There are two types of tile roofing; slate tiles and ceramic tiles. Slate tiles are fire resistant, are not vulnerable to rot and can be expected to last up to 100 years. But these are heavy and quite expensive. Ceramic tiles are resistant to fading and are fireproof. The better ceramic tiles can last up to 50-70 years. However, these tiles have some problems in fluctuating weather.

Flat

Flat roofs look great but require a lot of attention from the home or business owner. They need to be cleaned regularly and make sure drains aren’t clogged with debris. However, flat roofs can be environmentally friendly and reduce heat absorption.

No matter what type of roof you choose for your home or business, we can help you get it installed for an affordable price. Call us today to schedule a free estimate.
